Here’s one for the grammar freaks

  1. I don’t like to think of myself as a “grammar freak”, I’m just very particular. This sign, for instance, is obviously missing a couple of nouns. Monday’s (noun), Friday’s’ (noun). It could be the new party game to figure out what those nouns should be.

    • Either that or it should miss a couple of apostrophes.

  2. Oh, Cassy- poor grammar is a real problem for some, ain’t it? ‘Course, I is not included ‘cuz my grammars are perfectly!!
When I was in about 10th grade (long ago and far, far away) my English teacher gave us a semester long assignment- to watch the evening news and report gramatical errors on something like a weekly basis. Only I never have stopped and now everyone is fair game!! Around here we call it Okie speak. -“I done that when I been there” etc. Fortunately (or not, depending on how you see it), I had a parent who was a real stickler for proper grammar. Today, I would say my grammar tends to be on a sliding scale depending on the Okie to whom I am speaking. Or speaking at…. Love your posts, they always make me smile..

    • I was raised in a house of writers, so don’t think of myself as a grammar freak either, but I suppose that I am. At least, when I am not swearing.

The epidemic of people who don’t know the difference between “its” and it’s” is driving me bats.

  3. The one that sets my teeth on edge is “I could care less” when they mean “I could not care less”

    • Jeez, I might occasionally be guilty of that one. I’ll watch it from here on out!
