“SEND IN THE BROWNS,” a song parody for Jerry Brown on his first day as governor for the SECOND time

Sing to the tune of  “Send in the Clowns,” from “A Little Night Music”
by Stephen Sondheim

Isn’t it strange?
Arnold is gone,
He’s back to the movies with
Bang, boom and brawn,
Send in the Browns

We’ve done it again,
We voted extremes,
One who loves cash and cigars,
Another who dreams
Where are the Browns?
Send in the Browns

This ought to be good, Jerry is back
Can he summon the guts to put us in the black?
Picking up pieces of the ungovernable state,
Maybe he can,
But it might be too late

Don’t you love farce?
Our fault I fear,
God knows what we really want, our votes
are never quite clear
Quick, send in the Browns
We might need the Browns

First there was Pat,
Then his son Jerry,
Pat beat Dick Nixon,
Who just was too scary,
Send in the Browns
There have always been Browns
Don’t bother, they’re here.

  1. Very impressive your rhyming of “gone” and “brawn”

    • Thank you very much, Mr. McNary.

  2. AAAArrrrrghhhh!

    • Hang in there, Doreen. I’m probably moving on to other subjects this week.

I like the cat photos on your blog, by the way; particularly your “assistants.”
