“MEG, 28 YEARS”: A Song parody for Meg Whitman

(Sing to the tune of Green Day’s “21 Guns”)

Did you think if you threw cash at the sky
You’d be governor in the blink of an eye?
Keep your wallet open real wide,
141 million might not be enough

When you campaign for the big job
And you open your life to the mob
Every mistake that you ever made
Will find its way to a big sound bite

Meg, 28 years
That’s a long time not to have voted
Meg, 28 years
All your excuses are duly noted… and quoted

Civic duties are not nice to shirk
People raise kids, they still vote and work
Those t.v. ads, well, they won’t buy respect
We’ve got lame politicians already

California is not like eBay
Where they may generally do what you say
Californians are wielding pitchforks and tar
We’re in ruins

Meg, 28 years
How can you serve, it’s really a scandal
Meg, 28 years
Put down your wad, it’s too big to handle

Did you think that nobody would see
Your opinions have shifted so majorly?
The primary has now come and gone
And so have lots of your proclamations

The Latinos are trying real hard
To keep up with your fast-changing cards
Your housekeeper, she’s got a real grudge
Gloria Allred barely had to give her a nudge

Meg, 28 years
That’s a long time not to have voted
Meg, 28 years
All your excuses are duly noted… and quoted

Meg, 28 years
How can you serve, it’s really a scandal
Meg, 28 years
Put down your wad, it’s too big to handle

  1. Very clever! I’ve been listening to interviews with her and shaking my head. I’d rather listen to Green Day, so — well done.

    • Me too. Thanks Betsy.

  2. California’s Theme Song Nov 3:

    There’s nothing in the street
    Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now the parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
    Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
    We don’t get fooled again
    Don’t get fooled again
    No, No!

    Yeaaaahhhhh!

    Meet the new boss
    Same as the old boss…
