Paging Cesar Milan

A week after a diminutive Scottish terrier named Sadie won Best of Show at the prestigious Westminster Dog Show in New York, a 245-pound canine from Tucson has been declared the World’s Tallest Dog.

Giant George had been subject of a hotly-contested debate between George’s owner, David Nasser and, the owner of a San Diego dog named Titan. But a Guinness World Records representative yesterday settled the dispute. The sable-hued Great Dane came in at 3’7″. That was 3/4″ taller than Titan. George is 7’3″ from nose to tail.

There now are few celebrity venues left for George to storm. He already has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and he possesses a Facebook page with 33,626 fans. His priority right now is what it always is: food. According to the dog’s owner, “The first thing he does when he wakes up is eat; it’s the first thing on his mind.”

George is, not surprisingly, a very effective watchdog when he isn’t taking a snooze on his queen-size mattress.

  2. George is a great name for a dog by the way.
